Most homes don't have Secret Passageways, probably because most families don't need them. But in 1930, at the height of Prohibition, a family in the sleepy town of Dawsonville, Georgia built their home with a Secret Room, in which Peach Brandy, also known as "moonshine", was made. The Secret Room could only be accessed by a secret passageway that began in the back of a bedroom closet with a removable wall partition. The house which sits on Highway 9, the original "Thunder Road", included an indoor moonshine still that provided many gallons of Peach Brandy to the speakeasies in Atlanta. Several local people, including Bully Thurman, worked here to produce moonshine. Once the moonshine business closed, Bully worked at The Pool Room, where his “Bully Burger” became a local favorite.
